Saint Matthias Parish is a people who have
accepted the invitation of Jesus to "Come follow me." We are a faith community
striving to live and proclaim through words and actions, prayer and liturgy, the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. Recognizing that we are a diverse people, we are united in both our belief
that Jesus Christ is Lord and in our desire to bring the Word to all people. As people who have been baptized into Christ Jesus and confirmed by the Gift of the Holy Spirit, but well aware of our own weakness, we at Saint Matthias rejoice in proclaiming the Gospel of forgiveness and reconciliation and seek to live this in our personal and communal lives. As people of faith, we draw strength from the Eucharist, the sacrament of unity, and the Spirit of the living God who empowers us to be other Christs in our parish and the world. As people united in faith we also are nourished and receive strength from the gift of one another. As people of hope, we recognize the elements of perplexity in life and therefore offer with confidence mutual support rooted in one faith in the meaning of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. As people of charity, we must humbly and generously minister with love to the physical, social and emotional needs of all, while striving with people of good will to encourage peace, love and justice for all. As people of joy, we as the Parish of Saint Matthias seek to share the happiness of the Gospel with all people; with our parishioners, active and inactive; with all our neighbors, Christian and non-Christian, and those who have not yet found God. As people in union with the universal Catholic church, we dedicate ourselves to the mission of Christ by encouraging our members to be open to the call for personal and communal renewal within our parish, within our families and within sociey. We pray to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, Our Mother, and our apostolic patron, Saint Matthias. We ask God's blessing on our effort to grow in union with Him, with His Church, and with each other in this Parish of Saint Matthias. |
