Our Pastor, Monsignor Arthur E. Rodgers, is a native of Philadelphia. He was baptized in Holy Innocents Parish. His elementary school education was at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish. He made his First Holy Communion and was confirmed at this parish in northeast Philadelphia. He attended Saint Joseph's Preparatory School.

In 1956 he entered Saint Charles Seminary, Overbrook. He also studied at Villanova University while a student at Saint Charles.Father Rodgers was ordained a Priest on May 22, 1965 by Archbishop John J. Krol in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Following ordination, Father was a Parochial Vicar at Sacred Heart Parish in Manoa and was on the faculty of Cardinal O'Hara High School.

In 1967 he was sent to study at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Rome. In 1969 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Philosophy by this University, which is also known as the Angelicum. Upon returning to the United States, Father was a Professor of Philosophy at Saint Charles Seminary and was also the Academic Dean of Religious Studies at the seminary. He was a member of the seminary faculty for 21 years.

On May 7, 1990 Father Rodgers was selected to be the Pastor of our parish of Saint Matthias. He was installed as the seventh Pastor of Saint Matthias Parish on June 23,1990. On May 27,2005, Cardinal Justin Rigali appointed Father Rodgers the Regional Vicar of Montgomery County, The neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd named Father Rodgers "Citizen of the Year" during our Parish Centennial Year. On June 28, 2005, His holiness, Pope Benedict XVI named him a Prelate of Honor with the title of Reverend Monsignor.
